What is Reiki?
Reiki therapy is based on an Eastern belief that vital energy flows through the body. The concept is that a Reiki practitioner uses gentle touch—often placing their hands just above the body—to guide this energy and promote balance and healing.
Reiki was developed in the 1920s by a Japanese man named Mikao Usui. The term "Reiki" comes from two Japanese words: “Rei,” meaning universal, and “ki,” which is loosely translated as “life force.” While there is no scientific evidence for the existence of the energy field associated with Reiki, many people find it healing.
Reiki has been studied for various conditions, including pain, anxiety, and depression. It is considered a complementary treatment, meaning it should be used alongside proven traditional medical therapies. It does not cure or eliminate health conditions on its own.
